What happens if women get viral infections in pregnancy?

Varies: As you might expect, it depends a lot on the virus we are talking about. Most viruses cause short term illnesses with fever, muscle aches, sometimes with nausea and/or cough and/or nasal congestion. Some may cause GI upset. Most of these cause no problems in pregnancy. If you know you have been exposed to something, your doctor can check on the specific virus as some are more risky.

Depends: It depends on the specific virus. Some viruses would not affect a pregnancy - others could be devastating to the pregnancy.
