Can be serious: It all depends on your other medical conditions and how low the platelet count is. A rough normal range (depending on your lab) is 150-350 for adults. If just under 100, it may not be of serious concern except to watch. If under 50, it gets more concerning and once it reaches below 20 and especially under 10, spontaneous brain bleeds are possible. Also rapid rate of decline is very concerning.
