Yes.: All medications have the potential for negative side effects. More common side effects include dizziness, lethargy, drugged feeling and headache. More serious side effects can include retrograde (going backward) or anterograde (going forward) amnesia, hallucinations, complex sleep-related behavior, worsening depression and suicidal ideation.

Ambien (zolpidem): Depending on the dose, some can have hangover the next morning, some develop tolerance following regular use. Less common side-effect can include confusion, chest discomfort, lightheadedness, irritability, mood changes. Rare effects can include anxiety, tingling, dry mouth, shakiness, clumsiness, memory problems, sore throat, rash, blurred vision.
