A member asked:

Why can't a recovering alcoholic take xanax but can take abilify (aripiprazole) or seroquel?

It is habit-forming: Xanax is known to be very habit forming and difficult to stop taking. Seroquel and Abilify (aripiprazole) are not addictive.

Mirrors alcohol: Xanax's effect in the body mirrors and potentiates that of alcohol. Abilify and Seroquel do not. Though you shouldn't drink on those drugs either.
