Psorasis: Psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and hair dye sensitivity can all cause an itchy scalp. If this occurs few days after dying your hair, allergy test to the dye to determine if you can use it. Antidandruff shampoos contain ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, tar, or salicylic acid.

Skin conditions like contact dermatitis, scalp psoriasis, ringworm of scalp, folliculitis and other fungal and bacterial infections may also affect the scalp and cause itching.
