Why does your skin get discolored as you age?

Sun damage: Sun damage over time causes brown spots and white spots, broken blood vessels and red blotches. These get worse with age due to the accumulation of sun damage over many years. Young skin is capable of recovering from tans and sunburns without leaving marks. Older skin loses the ability toe heal itself and recover from suntanning--the skin no longer tans evenly but in blotches.

Sun damage.: The vast majority of age-related skin discoloration is due to the sun. Even a few minutes of sun exposure daily, over a number of years, can cause it. Apply a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen lotion ever day, whether you expect to be in the sun or not. The discoloration will slowly fade, or your dermatologist can recommend one of many treatments to even out your skin tone.
