Possibly: The liver has wonderful regenerative capabilites as long as you have not completely fried it; stopping all alcohol and other toxins getting into the body will give it the best opportunity to recover. You also want to minimize all drugs you may be taking to give it the best opportunity.

Yes: A lot depends on how much damage has been done. If the liver is inflamed (alcoholic hepatitis), it generally heals completely with abstinence. If some scarring has occurred (fibrosis), that will not go away, but the liver can function pretty normally. If severe scarring or cirrhosis is present, then stopping alcohol will allow some healing and prevent further damage. Get help to stop!
