Can you drink some wine while pregnant?

No: We really don't know how much alcohol exposure can cause fetal alcohol syndrome. In addition, 'a little' alcohol can mean different things to different people. It is just simpler for everyone to be one the same page and say no to any amount of alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs in pregnancy.

No: Fetal alcohol syndrome can occur with even small amounts of alcohol consumed during the pregnancy. Alcohol should be avoided completely.

No: The early reports of fetal alcohol effects surfaced first in the 1950's& again in the 70's. The most prominent effects were dose related; the worst fetal damage to the highest alcohol intake. Research has shown direct toxic effects of alcohol on the nerves of the fetal brain & many suggest much of the add we see today is related to alcohol intake. No level of alcohol intake is considered safe.
