Swelling: Local reactions are fairly common and present as redness and swelling at the injection site. This can happen immediately, or several hours after the treatment.

A reaction involving: only a limited area of the body. This is in contrast to a systemic or generalized reaction. Often this is used to describe a reaction to an insect bite or infection. A local reaction would be confined to an arm or a leg or small part of the body, but a systemic reaction might cause breathing problems, fever, generalized hives, vomiting, fainting, etc.
