Gut bug/ bad food: Most cases of cramps an vomiting are due to old food (bacteria on food) or a stomach virus. If diarrhea also present, then those two possibilities are most likely. Can still be other things like an ulcer, gallstones, kidney stone, or bowel obstruction. Might need to see your doctor to check this out.

Nonspecific : If associated with vomiting and diarrhea, could just be the stomach flu. If it gets worse, or he cannot stay hydrated, he should be seen by a doctor asap.
