Contour irregularity: A wrinkle is a lay term and the medical word for this is a "rhytid". It generally refers to a contour irregularity on the surface of the skin that was not previously there and may be attributed to movement (hyperdynamic lines) or loss of elasticity due to aging or environmental (namely sun) damage. With time, one may also see thinning of the underlying dermis.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
