Put sperm in uterus: Intrauterine insemination (iui) is where fresh or frozen partner or donor sperm is prepared or 'washed' to increase the sperm quality then gently injected through your cervix after a speculum exam, like a pap smear exam. It should be painless or cause mild cramping only. Iui helps with mild to moderate sperm problems. Iui preparations should have at least 2 million moving sperm for best results.

IUI: Intrauterine insemination (iui), also sometimes called “artificial insemination’, involves placement of sperm following separation from seminal fluid into the uterine cavity. An IUI is useful for women who have structural problems, when the cervical mucus is unreceptive, when donor sperm are required, when the male partner’s semen contains very low numbers of sperm, or for unexplained infertility.
