Ovarian Follicle: An ovarian follicle refers to the growing unit that contains the egg. It basically consists of the egg, and surrounding granulosa cells and theca cells. The cells are responsible for hormone production. In the mature stages, the follicle will contain a fluid filled cavity called the antrum.
