I have an 11 month old with a stuffy/runny nose, coughing, drooling and sneezing. he is getting his top 2 teeth and has a fever of 101.8 f. is it just teething?

No, viral illness: Everybody blames teething for things but, and i say this for emphasis, teething does not cause fever. Sorry. However, those who are teething touch everything, then it all goes in the mouth. So children at that age pull in every virus and put it in their mouths. So treat this as you would a virus.

Could be but..: It could be teething, but this time of year...Could be the flu. For either affliction...Call your md and see what they say or try giving tylenol (acetaminophen) for comfort and the fever. Don't let it go too long with medical advice.

Probably not : Dentists argue about whether teething causes fever and runny nose, but most dentists agree that teething does not cause a cough. Have your baby checked by pediatrician since i suspect there is an infection.
