Further progression: I know of three stages for osteoarthritis. 1- start of the disease. 2-progression of the disease. 3-advance progression of the disease. 4-further progression of the disease.

Final stage: Oa is a process of cartilage degeneration (hence its other name - degenerative joint disease). In stage 4 there is no cartilage left, at least in part of the joint, a state we like to call 'bone-on-bone'.
