Not necessarily: If you have only a hairlip and no palate problems and it does not cause problems, then technically you do not need it fixed. If you have problems eating, speaking, or recurrent infections that can be linked to it then it would be advisable to have it repaired. Your best answer will come form a consult with a plastic surgeon who does these repairs.
