No: Individuals born with omphalocele is not at higher risk to develop other abdominal hernias later. However, one small study showed that about one third of affected children experienced physical and cognitive developmental delay especially in their first two years.

Possibly: If you are born with omphalocele, the abdominal wall may be deficient and therefore you may be at risk for hernia in your incision.

Not usually: But you could be at risk for a recurrent hernia at the site of surgical repair due to inadequate tissue at the site of the omphalocele.
