Bronchodilators: Many children with bronchiolitis will respond to bronchodilators such as albuterol. Occasionally, other medications may be used such as oral steroids, or antibiotics for a secondary pneumonia.

Supportive measures: Bronchiolitis has a viral cause and can last up to 2 weeks in normal children, usually infants. No antibiotics and no cough medications are indicated. Occasionally bronchodilators (inhaled) may benefit a child, and help with the cough, but are not often used unless an infant is hospitalized.

Not Much: Drs. Opsimos and popler are correct. Elevation, saline nose drops and a humidifier may help in addition. And time, 7-10 d on average to improve.
