Who does testing to make sure herbal medicine is safe?

Good Question: Right now herbal treatment is not really well regulated. And it is out of the scope of fda review since it is classified as a food supplement. So proceed with caution and try to obtain herbal medicine that has been certified by USP standards.

No One: There currently is no certified , legal organization or agency that oversees this testing, because there is no law requiring safety testing of these products, as is required for products defined as medicines, not nutritional supplements as herbal products are classified. Sad isn't it?
