Poorly studied: There are very few unbiased studies looking at herbal therapies for allergies. A review article on this subject felt that the use of butterbur may be equivalent to antihistamines. There are also rare studies using other herbal products, including aller-7, tinospora cordifolia, perilla frutescens, and several chinese herbal medicines that showed some effect. Side effects are not well understood.

Allergy: No herbal allergy medications are approved by the fda nor are any of the "claimed or supposed" benefits that are touted. The best therapy would be to use salt water washes two to three times per day.
