What is an ''op'' delivery?

Sunny Side Up: Op refers to the position of the baby's head at the time of delivery. Occiput posterior or op is when the back of the baby's skull or occiput is toward the mother's back or posterior. With the mother lying on her back, the baby comes out facing upward. Normally, the baby delivers facing downward in the oa or occiput anterior position. An op delivery is sometimes referred to as sunny side up.

Face up: Op refers to occiput posterior. The occiput is the back of the crown of the head. Most babies come out occiput anterior, or looking down. It is easier that way. Some babies are delivered vaginally op and some that are op just cannot fit out the vagina and require a cesarean delivery.
