Removal: A rupture spleen requires urgent/emergency removal of the organ.

It depends.......: If the patient is hemodynamically stable, we will watch them for signs of bleeding. If they remain stable, non-operative therapy is preferred. If they are unstable, we either take out the spleen (really unstable) or embolize the spleen (transiently stable) with gel-foam or coils and our radiology colleagues.
