Several things: In the first place, it is not normal to have a build up of fluid around the heart., when the fluid is removed, it would be abnormal to have bacteria growing in the fluid. There may be also abnormal cells in the fluid indicating infection, inflammation, or tumor. The fluid should normally be clear and straw colored.

Not needed: If there is a need for pericardiocentesis, something is abnormal. Either increased volume, blood, pus, cancer cells. Etc.
