Who does an open heart surgery?

TCV Surgeon: Open heart surgery is performed by cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgeons, also known as ct or cv surgeons. These surgeons complete a general surgical fellowship and then a subspecialty fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery.

Heart surgeons: Heart surgeons are medical doctors who have completed 4 years of medical school, 5 years of general surgery residency, and 2-3 years of cardiothoracic residency. Don't let anyone else operate on you.

Open heart: When the chest wall is surgically opened and heart is exposed and surgery performed on the heart or it's arteries we refer to this as "open heart surgery".
