Useful for bypass: The mammary artery is a vessel that suplies blood to the chest wall. It is used in bypass surgery . The artery is re routed from the chest to the heart. Because its an artery and not a traditional vien (that is harvested from the leg) its more compatable more effcient and the most durable of the bypass grafts.
