Lef t Ventricle: Blood that is carrying oxygen returns from the lungs to the left atrium. From there it crosses the mitral valve to the left ventricle. The blood is then pumped across the aortic valve to the body.

Mitral valve : After crossing the mitral valve blood flows into the left ventricle and then pushed across the aortic valve into the aorta and to the systemic circulation.
