Left ventricle: It passes from the left atrium through the mitral valve and into the left ventricle from which it is pumped out to the body.

Mitral valve: Blood flows through the mitral valve into the left ventricular cavity. As systole raises pressure the mitral valve closes and the aortic valve opens and blood is pumped into the aorta and out to the body.
