What is the treatment regime for ischemia?

Medication: Coronary ischemia is due to an inadequate blood supply to the heart usually due to coronary artery blockage. Prevention by controlling risk factors remains important. If ischemia is present medications including nitrates, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers and Ranolazine may control symptoms. For severe cases coronary angioplasty/stenting or bypass surgery may be required.

Multiple drugs: Anti platelet agents such as aspirin, plaivix. Beta blockers such as atenolol or metoprolol. Vasidilators such as nitroglycerin. Occasionally anticoagulants such as Heparin or lovenox (enoxaparin). Coronary intervention such as angioplasty, stenting, and bypass surgery.
