What are some do's and don'ts of high blood pressure?

Don't ignore it: Do check your blood pressure regularly. If you have high blood pressure you need to know if it is under control. If it has always been well controlled you can check it less often. However, if you are one who has trouble with control you should check it on a daily basis. You cannot know whether or not your blood pressure is well controlled if the only time it is checked is during an appointment.

Healthy lifestyle #1: Weight control and regular exercise can go a surprisingly long way to lowering blood pressure. Exercise often helps (30+min a day brisk walking or equivalent), even if no weight loss occurs. Many people are sensitive to restricting sodium (<2000mg/day). Alcohol drives up blood pressure if moderate to heavy intake. Agreed you need to monitor it, but if you are "type a" personality, don't go crazy!
