Yes: How severe a viral cardiomyopathy is varies greatly. Of course you can survive even if it severe, but if the heart is weak enough, the problem can be fatal. Even then, a cardiac transplant could prolong life. Taking your medications will, of course, improve the symptoms and perhaps prolong survival.
