This : This was an old "wive's tale" on aiding with labor. This is not an appropriate way to help labor. Other's that do not help are: walking, jumping, etc.. These only pass the time. The only thing that has been proven to increase contractions and quicken labor is intercourse. The fluid that the sperm swim in has a prostaglandin that is simular to the prostaglandin that we use to "induce" a woman's labor. Although this can be quite uncomfortable to a full term woman it is the only "act" that has been shown to increase contractions and aid in labor.

We : We don't recommend it. Castor oil works by stimulating your bowels. Since the bowels are right next the uterus, it may stimulate your uterus to contract. There are a couple of issues. First, it usually gives women pretty bad diarrhea all throughout labor which is not really fun. Second, you may contract too much and stress out your baby. I know it is really frustrating to wait but it is worth it! good luck!
