How does body weight affect knee replacement? i am considered obese, and my doctor says this has contributed to my need for knee replacement. will my body weight affect my outcome?

Obesity : Obesity makes surgery more difficult for both patient and surgeon. From the surgeon's point of view, obtaining adequate exposure is harder, checking alignment is harder, and fat obscures anatomy. From the patient's point of view, obesity is a significant risk factor for infection, diabetes, heart problems, and complications around the time of surgery. So anything you can do to lose weight will help. However, there is no good evidence that implant longevity is any worse for obese patients.
