It : It is very uncommon to develop a bruise after a botulinum toxin injection if proper technique is used. To decrease the risk further, you should avoid medications or supplements known to prolong bleeding or increase bruising. Be healthy and be well, james m. Ridgway, md.

Bruising : Bruising can happen with any injections into the facial muscles or injections with dermal fillers. Small vessels in the muscle can be pierced by the injecting needle. Immediate pressure and icing should be applied, but this does not guarantee that you will not get a bruise. Bruising happens rarely, but it always seems to happen when the patient is having a major social event. Murphy's law! i hate when a patient says: " the reason i come to you is because you do not bruise me" eventually it will happen and i tell my patients they should get their Botox or Dysport or fillers at least one week prior a major social event.

It : It is the needle stick that causes the bruising, not a product. Bruising will go away differently in people. In some just a couple of days, in others a couple of weeks, but it always goes away. Good luck from nyc. For more info visit www.Drgrossman.Com.

Dysport Bruising: Depending on the depth and extent of bruising it can take a few weeks or even more to disappear. A history of easy bruising, high blood pressure, post op nausea and vomiting, and taking supplements, nsaid;s and certain antioxidants will make bruising more likely, arnica pills and topical gel might help as well as camouflage makeup. Most of my patients have little or no bruising to speak of.
