Why is flying for long distances associated with dvt?

It's not the ...: ...Flying that causes dvt, it's sitting immobile with feet below the body. Blood that pools in the leg veins can clot if it is not moved by walking or lifting the legs.

It's not the...: Immobility is most important, as dr. Belilovsky said, but it is also the relative dehydration that many people experience while flying because they don't drink enough water and often drink alcohol instead.
