Will going swimming with my contacts in give me keratitis? i usually keep my contact in when i go swimming, because it's a hassle to swim with glasses. my friend told me that she got keratitis from doing that. is that possible?

It : It is certainly possible. Swimming in fresh water like lakes is especially dangerous as you have an increased risk of fungal infections and acanthamoeba infections. You could wear prescription goggles while swimming, so things are clear and you are not put at risk.

Keratitis : Keratitis simply means inflammation of the cornea. This can occur with an infection and trauma. You do increase the likelyhood of an infection with contacts on while swimming.

It's : It's possible that you could develop an eye infection while swimming with contact lenses in. This is especially dangerous in fresh water lakes and rivers, where an amoeba/parasite can cause a very serious eye infection that takes a long time to treat.
