Left arm and leg are tingly numb the left hand is swollen and can not lift or pick up anything with that am and hand. this is a male about 55 yrs old. starting to feel strange

Probably : Probably the most serious cause of abrupt weakness and numbness on one side of the body is stroke (an older term is "cerebrovascular accident"). And get worse over hours suggest a hemorrhagic stroke (the type of stroke when a blood vessel bursts inside your brain). People who develop these symptoms need to get to the closest hospital right away!
