Hello. : Hello. Amniotic fluid either has no smell or it can smell like an almond. It looks much like urine. Amniotic fluid can either gush out or drip out bit by bit. If there is a small hole in the membrane and the baby’s head it up against it, then small amounts of amniotic fluid can leak out when you move or when the baby moves. One way to help distinguish the fluid from urine is to use the toilet and empty your bladder. You can put a sanitary pad in your underwear. If there is leakage of amniotic fluid, it will cause the pad to become wet.

Clock is ticking: If you are leaking the membranes that protect your baby from germs are open and germs can get in and infect your baby. The infection could kill you both. The risk of infection increases tremendously after 18 hours. They can do a test of the fluid & decide if its pee or fluid. I would go in & have them test it to be sure.
