Can i use camphor phenique for a inner ear infection don't have the money for a prescription called cortisporin (neomycin polymyxin and hydrocortisone)

Hello. : Hello. Campho phenique can help with pain of the external ear canal. However if you have a middle or inner ear infection, I am not sure that it would help with those sources of pain. Also, if you have an ear infection, it will not cure it. It also won't help hearing loss. Is there any chance that you have a ruptured ear drum?- because i don't know what would happen if you used this substance and the ear drum was ruptured.

Camphor : Camphor phenique will not fight an infection. Cortisporin (neomycin polymyxin and hydrocortisone) is usually used for infections in the ear canal, not for a middle ear infection (infection behind the ear drum). An infection in the canal is usually painful and has drainage (pus) coming out of the ear. It can be treated with ear drops or pill antibiotics. A middle ear infection (like kids get) can usually go away without antibiotics but will need close follow-up with your doctor to make sure the infection is not getting worse--this is how they are treated in europe. A worsening infection needs oral antibiotics. Other medical problems, diabetes, immune problems, some medications can increase the risk of infections getting worse and need close follow-up. If your doctor has recommended antibiotics, i would recommend doing what you can to get them.
