Monitor: Children do not have a right to online privacy. The internet is an adult's world so you child's internet activities should be directly monitored.

Don't get on: Being an abuse specialist who works with local agencies on internet predators, if your kid is online and predators want to find them, chances are they will. Keep offline as much as possible, but use responsibly. Eliminate chat rooms, personal web ages, etc and you won't be exposed...And monitor their activity, they are several good programs that limit what they can do and monitor what they do.
