Hello. : Hello. This is definitely concerning. A few causes for yellow stool includes: hepatitis, bile obstruction, pancreatitis & gallstones. Steatorrhea can give stool a foul smell and an an oily appearance. It is due to having too much fat in the feces and is often due to lack of bile acids/ liver problems. Your husband may well be in denial. It is a hallmark of alcoholism. This may be keeping him from seeing that he is destroying his health. There are three possible outcomes for an alcholic: 1. Sobriety 2. Dying from the illness or 3. Driving themselves crazy. His body is ill, and he needs to make a decision now about which of these three possible outcomes he choses. I suggest that you show him this response. It is very important that he see a doctor.

I : I agree with you and the other physician that your husband would benefit from prompt medical attention. You would benefit from going to alanon meetings. It is clear you love your husband and want to do all you can to help. I highly recommend you attend alanon meetings regularly. Otherwise, you are just as likely to be part of the problem rather than the solution. Medical care for alcohol dependence is effective and can make a big difference in maintaining sobriety. Just say no approaches do not work well in most cases of alcohol dependence.
