A member asked:

Is it healthy to only eat once a day? for as long as i can remember i've only eaten once a day. it's not that i don't want to eat, it's just that if i eat three meals, or even two, i feel extremely bloated and full, even if the meals weren't anything big.

Hello. : Hello. That is an easy question - it isn't healthy. By eating so little and only once a day, your metabolic rate has likely dropped, which is why you aren't feeling hungry. Additionally, your stomach has likely become unacustomed to normal intake and quickly feels full. I recommend that even if you have to eat small meals 5 to 6 times a day, that you you begin to give your body the nutrients it needs.

As : As a board certified physician nutrition specialist, i can state that there is no good evidence that your eating pattern is bad for you. You may be interested in my blog post below on eating multiple times a day. If you feel well and are at healthy weight no problem. I am a bit concerned about your abdominal symptoms though. You should get checked for celiac disease which can cause bloating as the only symptom. Only a blood test is needed.
