Early : Early physical therapy is very important to obtain full range of motion in your knee after knee replacement. You should expect physical therapy two times a week for the first 6 weeks after surgery. I like my patients to do physical therapy for three months post-surgery. Every patient is different and some graduate from physical therapy sooner than others.

Depends on progress: Most patients receive physical therapy twice per day while in hospital and then usually 2-3 times per week after discharge from the hospital. Most patients have therapy for approximately 6-8 weeks and the frequency during that time depends on how they are progressing and how devoted they are to home exercise. All patients progress at different rates so some may need a little more or a little less.
