Doesnt work that way: If you are getting an epidural i recommend discussing it with the anesthesia provider early in labor. They place a catheter and then medication flows through it. There really is not a choice between a regular dose or a low dose epidural. It has more to do with how much medication flows through the catheter and what medications they choose to use.

Depends why: If you're talking about an epidural for labor pain, the medication will be kept on the light side so you can still move your legs and maybe walk around. If you need a c-section, the medication will be stronger so you don't feel pain during surgery. Epidurals given for back pain use different medications such as steroids. So get the epidural you need--talk to your anesthesiologist.
