Hello. : Hello. During a physical examination, a doctor examines the outer and inner lips (labia), the uterus and the cervix. The doctor palpates these areas as well as the ovaries and fallopian tubes (although these can sometimes be quite hard to feel). The bladder is also usually palpated as well as the rectum. Usually a small amount of feces is checked for blood. Usually a speculum examination is performed to visualize the inside of the vagina and the cervix and to take cell samples. The doctor will look to ensure the tissue appears normal (no ulcerations, warts, polyps etc). This will allow the doctor to check for infections as well.
