What are the different types of emergency contraception and how do they work?

Pills and copper IUD: Combination emergency contraceptive pills prevent ovulation, thicken the cervical mucus decreasing sperm movement &may interfere with ovarian release of hormones (lh) needed for pregnancy. Levonorgestrel only pills (progesterone) delay ovulation and LH surge. Ulipristal (upa) inhibits or delays ovulation. None of these affect an existing pregancy after implantation &are not = to medical abortion.
