There : There are many reasons for anal pain. You need to see a colon and rectal surgeon so he can examine you to make sure you don't have a fissure or another cause of the pain. If you are about to turn 40 and you are having colorectal complaints a colorectal surgeon might also recommend doing a colonoscopy for you as well as part of your evaluation.

I : I would do a rectal exam with Lidocaine ointtment on finger tip to rule out a massa and check his prostate for a mass.I would also get 4 stool guiacs, would also suggest a colonoscopy and referral to a rectal specialist.I would also get a sonogram of his pelvis. The patient should be seen following one of these attacks of pain. I might give the patient a rx for Lidocaine suppositories to take during these episodes of pain.
