Hello. : Hello. The doctor will examine your penis. S/he will feel each scrotum including the testicles to check for masses. A finger will be placed in the your inguinal area and the doctor will ask you to cough to check for hernias. Often a rectal examination is also done to check your prostate and usually your stool is checked for blood.

The : The provider will have you undress and lie down flat on your back. The penis is examined with respect to the skin, urethra, erectile bodies and the presence of any abnormalities of these structures. The examiner determines whether the penis still has a foreskin (uncircumcised) or has been circumcised. The glans, or head of the penis, is examined for any skin changes suggestive of inflammation, infection or cancer. The urethral opening, or meatus, is examined for signs of stenosis or scarring. The shaft skin is also inspected. The sensation of the penis is assessed via light touch, and occasionally to other stimuli such as pinprick. The penis is then put on stretch so that the examiner can palpate along the length of the two erectile bodies for signs of plaque. Plaque is a condensation of scar tissue indicative of peyronie's disease. The length and extensibility of the penis may also be assessed. Reflexes may be tested to determine nerve reactivity. The vascular supply of the penis can usually only be measured with more sophisticated diagnositic tests.
