Hello. : Hello. I can't tell you the reason for this. But here are some thoughts. First off, most standard home pregnancy tests aren't designed to be used until you have actually missed your period. There can also be operator error. Most need to be done exactly as directed. For instance, if you let the test sit too long before reading it, it can appear to be positive when it is actually a negative. Also, if you let it sit too long, you could see a faint line (usually gray) which is not a positive on the pregnancy test (it is acutually an evaporation line from the urine as it dried). There are a number of women who develop bloating and breast tenderness prior to their period. My recommendation: 1. Delay doing pregnancy test until period is missed. 2. If you get a negative and want to repeat it - wait at least 2 to 7 days. 3. Perform the test exactly as directed (the timing with reading it is crucial) 4. Ask your doctor for a blood pregnacy test if there is signficant confusion. Take care.
