I : I do not know if there is a portion of the needle in her finger. Was part of the needle that broke off unaccounted for? Is her finger red, swollen, tender to the touch or warm? I recomomed that she be evaluated to determine if there is a foriegn body and to ensure that it is healing.

It : It could be, an xray should show a sewiing needle fragment. At times the injury just hurts because the deep tissues are still healing even without a retained foreign body finger nails are very sensative and any scar and distruption of the growing nail plate will give traction on the sterile matrix ( the soft part under the nail) and could hurt as well. Again even without a retained foreign body.
