The : The other panelists are correct... The scrap was yours. It was not worth a fortune, but every dollar counts now adays. I always ask my patients of they want the scrap... The response 99% of the time is "what ami going to do with it?". It's the 1% that makes me ask every time. I think a complementary hygiene visit, as suggested, would not be out of order.

What : What to do is up to you. As dr. Mccloud states, there is value in the metal. However, in such a small amount you would not recoup very much money on your own. I dont think it unreasonable for you to ask the dental office to remburse you for what they think that metal was worth. You did ask for it in a timely manner, and if it were my office i would take responsibility and credit that value to you. You might expect $75 or more, and be happy with $50.
